Architecture and history

The simple, plastered church was built in 1793 on the site of a previous building that burned down in 1789. The elongated nave with a rectangular floor plan from the Baroque period is provided with large segmented arched windows and simply structured by pilaster strips . The choir on the east side has a straight end. The ship is covered with a hip roof . On the west side of the nave there is a wide church tower dating back to the previous building from 1683. In 1795 the tower was supplemented with a timber-framed top and crowned with a pointed helmet.

Inside the church there is an inscription on the west wall dated 1683, which comes from the previous building. The interior of the church was redesigned in 1960. The horseshoe gallery was shortened and simplified and the brick furnishings of the choir were renewed.

The neo-Romanesque organ prospectus dates from the last third of the 19th century and was created by R. Voigt from Stendal . The neo-Gothic baptism in the shape of a polygonal chalice dates from the middle or second half of the 19th century . The church's bronze bell dates from 1790.

In the parish garden is the cupola of a goblet-shaped Romanesque baptismal font with a round arch frieze . There are also two baroque inscription tombstones. Including a stone for pastor Joh. Georgius Fabricius Wendeburg, who died in 1693.
