history
In 1741, the previous church was built as a hall church with a roof turret and patron lodge attached to the south . In addition to a beautiful baroque pulpit altar, it had a valuable organ created by Silbermann's student Friderici. The church was a listed building. From 1813 to 1864 it was Christian Ludwig Brehm's parish church . His son Alfred Brehm was baptized and confirmed here.
In 1958 the church burned down to the ground. With the strong commitment of the community and "under sometimes unfavorable conditions", it was rebuilt until 1964 as a "modern, simple church" with a small ridge tower. A half-timbered extension still stands from the old church, which used to contain the staircase to the patron's box and is now the sacristy.
The longhouse
The interior of the nave is simply furnished. The galleries and the aisle were reinstalled as in the burned-out ship. In the sanctuary , an altar with were Cross , a sermon panel and the baptismal font installed. There is a community room under the galleries. The patronage box was converted into a sacristy .
The bell and the organ
The new bells were given a bell tower above the church . Gerhard Richter from Weimar built the new organ based on the old model.
Brehm Memorial
The Brehm memorial is located south of the church on a hill. It commemorates the Brehm family, especially Christian Ludwig Brehm , who was pastor in the village for 50 years, and his son Alfred Brehm , who was and is world-famous as a zoologist. As a legacy of this tradition, the two inlays hang in the chancel , which are reminiscent of the famous words of Jesus about the birds.
Outside the war memorial are the two steel bells that broke in the 1958 fire as memorials for this event.
Alfred Brehm, his parents and other family members rest in the churchyard .
