Schäpe village church
The Protestant village church Schäpe is a hall church from the year 1827. It is in the district Schäpe the city of Beelitz in Potsdam-Mittelmark , state Brandenburg . The associated parish belongs to the parish Beelitz in the parish of Mittelmark-Brandenburg of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .
history
In the years 1770 and 1771 the residents of the village built a church and a school building. Experts suspect that both structures stood on the site on which the houses with house numbers 6 and 7 are located in the 21st century. In 1824 lightning struck the structure and destroyed it. Three years later, the parish built a follow-up building based on plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel , which they initially built without a church tower due to a lack of materials - it was only added in 1864. In 1921 it received a new plaster . Combat operations during World War II also caused serious damage to the church, which the parish had repaired by 1950. The church received a new painting of the nave . In 2010, the Schinkelkirche Schäpe e. V. and began to renovate the structure. In the first construction phase in 2012, the church tower with the 1.90 meter high cross was renovated for 81,000 euros. In the following year the association was able to repair the roof and the windows. In 2013 the restored bells were added, which found their place in a free-standing bell tower . They were found during clean-up work on the site and initially mistaken for flower pots. In 2015 and 2016 the facade will be comprehensively renewed.
architecture
The nave is a classicist , rectangular hall building, which was provided with a grayish plaster. On the north and south sides, the builders placed five, and on the east side three more large arched arched windows. Its shape is further emphasized by a wide, inward-facing reveal . On the eastern gable , they also took up this form in a smaller version, while the western gable is closed. The saddle roof of the nave is covered with a red beaver tail and decorated with a golden cross on the two gable tips. The later added, square west tower is connected to the nave by an open arched hall. On each side of the three floors, a narrow, arched opening let in daylight. Above this, a double cornice separates the arched sound arcades , each enclosed by a plaster panel . This is followed by a further ledge with an overlying Kirchturmuhr and an eight-fold bent spire that is covered with black slate. The tip is decorated with a ball with a cross.
Furnishing
The polygonal pulpit and the horseshoe gallery date from the time the church was built. An organ was installed in the middle of the 19th century. The hall building has a flat roof inside.
