The church

The evangelical village church Schmiedehausen is located in the community Schmiedehausen in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Dorndorf-Eckolstädt in Kirchenkreis Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The original Romanesque church was reshaped renewed in the 15th century and with choir tower , hipped roof and roof skylights added.

The single-nave choir tower church from 1608 was extended by a south aisle. It is separated from the main nave by a double arcade. In the main nave there are two galleries , the second is all around.

A former patron's seat was set up as a winter church on the upper floor of the aisle . The crucifix from the 16th century also hangs there . In 1553 the barrel vault was built in the lower choir .

There is a popular crucifix on the stone altar. On the south side of the choir arch is the pulpit with paintings of Christ Salvator and the evangelists from the 17th century.

During the restoration in the 1980s, Horst Jahresling was the consultant.
