The Protestant village church Sorge-Settendorf is located in the district of Sorge-Settendorf in the municipality of Mohlsdorf-Teichwolframsdorf in the Greiz district in Thuringia . The church is also a place of worship for the village of Kleinreinsdorf . Every year on Ascension Day there is a joint service . If the visibility is good, the Völkerschlachtdenkmal near Leipzig can be seen from the church .

history

The church was built in 1739 and consecrated in 1740.

Due to the uranium mining of the Wismut , both the church and the cemetery were to be demolished from 1950 in order to mine uranium in open-cast mining . However, a mother who had lost two daughters was able to persuade the Russian officer who was entrusted with the preparations for the demolition to mark out the intended area differently so as not to disturb the peace of the dead. For this reason, both the church and the cemetery were preserved.
