The Protestant village church of Wengelsdorf is a listed church in the Wengelsdorf district of the city of Weißenfels in Saxony-Anhalt . It belongs to the parish Weissenfels-Nord in the church district Merseburg Evangelical Church in Central Germany . In the local register of monuments , the building is listed as a monument under registration number 094 12172 .

In the village church of Wengelsdorf, the namesake of the church is no longer known today. The nave and the choir are Gothic in style . According to an inscription above the north portal which found consecration of the church in 1624 instead. The church is not mentioned in the church visits of the 16th century. Since these church visits were carried out by the branch churches themselves, it can be assumed that no church was built in the 16th century. Due to the mix of styles in the portal, it is assumed that the construction of the church began much earlier and was completed in 1624.

mausoleum

The mausoleum of the Saenger family, who have been based in the village since 1862, is also on the church grounds . The octagonal building was built in 1891. The architectural style of the mausoleum is that of a Gothic chapel . The building has columns with rich capitals, domes and roofs over the windows, and doors with gables.
