The church

The village church of Wetzdorf is located in the Wetzdorf district of the city of Schkölen in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Dorndorf-Eckolstädt in Kirchenkreis Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

location

The church stands on the southern edge of the village and is affected by the state roads 1070 and 2306 on the north and east side.

history

The church was built in 1755 as a baroque church with an onion dome . The apse is older. The foundation walls come from the previous church. Around 1800 the church tower was torn down again, whereupon the church got its current appearance.

Interior decoration

The baroque pulpit altar was renovated in 1999/2000.

The organ from 1755 on the second gallery was restored by organ builder Blumenstein in 2004–2006. The organ received back the tin prospectus that had been removed during the First World War . Almost all pipes were financed through letters of donation .

Bell house

The bell house north of the church stands north of the tangential street in a neat square. From 1821 the bronze bell is rung manually.
