The Protestant village church of Zernitz is a stone church from the Gothic era in the Zernitz district of the Zernitz-Lohm community in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the parish Lohm in the Prignitz parish of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .

History and architecture

Zernitz has been a pastor since 1324. The Reformation was introduced in 1541. From 1600 to 1977 Holzhausen was a subsidiary of Zernitz, since 1997 Lohm and Roddahn have been subsidiary communities. The list of pastors includes 21 names from 1538 to the present day. The lords of Holzhausen had patronage until 1945.

The village church of Zernitz is a short, rectangular field stone building with a west transverse tower, which was dendrochronologically dated to 1459/63. The edges and openings were bricked in brick. A stinging arched south portal in a raised pointed arch panel with a pointed arched window above it opens up the building, the other nave windows were enlarged in 1898. The east wall with a coupled arched window between two pointed arched windows is largely unchanged ; In the gable there are staggered arched panels. Inside, two pointed arch openings mediate between the tower and the ship. The interior is completed by a beamed ceiling around 1700, which is richly painted with tendrils, shows Christian symbols in the middle and was restored in 1967. The west gallery was changed around 1800 when the organ supported by four Tuscan columns was installed.

Furnishing

The main piece of equipment is a pulpit altar with a large painting of the Last Supper from 1722. The polygonal pulpit has putti heads and palm branch cartouches, pillars and acanthus cheeks are arranged on the side; the crown-like sound cover is supported by two angels (similar to the church in Groß Woltersdorf ). The work is attributed to HJ Schultz from Havelberg , as is the fragmentary baptismal angel from the beginning of the 18th century, which was restored in 2007. The pastors' and parish chairs date from the 18th century. A cast iron cross commemorates JF Georgi († 1825). The organ is a work by Wilhelm Rühlmann from 1890 with six stops on a manual and pedal .
