Doris Strahm

Doris Strahm (* 1953 in Zurich ) is a former Roman Catholic Swiss theologian and publicist .

Life

Strahm studied Protestant theology , psychology and pedagogy at the University of Zurich from 1973 to 1975 and Roman Catholic theology at the Lucerne Theological Faculty from 1975 to 1981 . In 1996 she did her doctorate at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) on Christology from the perspective of women in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

In 1985 Strahm founded the feminist-theological journal Fama and was its co-editor until the end of 2006. She is a founding member and since 2014 board member of the IG Feminist Theologians of Switzerland and founded the Interreligious Think-Tank in 2008 . In 2007 Doris Strahm was awarded the Marga Bührig recognition award.

In November 2018, Strahm left the Roman Catholic Church , along with five other well-known women . The occasion was the equation of abortion with contract murder by Pope Francis .
