Dorothee Golz

Dorothee Golz (* 1960 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German - Austrian sculptor .

Live and act

Dorothee Golz graduated from the École Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg from 1980 to 1986 and studied art history and ethnology at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg (from 1981 to 1985) . She has lived and worked in Vienna since 1988.

From 2004 to 2005 Dorothee Golz was visiting professor for three-dimensional design at the Technical University of Vienna and from 2013 to 2014 visiting professor for spatial interventions at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz .

Golz achieved international fame in 1997 when she took part in documenta X in Kassel, where she showed the sculpture Hohlwelt (1996). In addition to sculptures and small sculptures, photography and drawing are her most important means of expression.

A well-known photo series by Dorothee Golz is digital paintings . For this series, Golz uses classic portraits from the Renaissance and uses the faces to insert them into contemporary photographs.
