The Dottenfelderhof is an organically managed farm in the town of Bad Vilbel . As the “Sachgemeinschaft Dottenfelder Hofgut”, the entire complex is a listed building.

building

The courtyard is surrounded by buildings, dominated by the two-storey former mansion on the narrow eastern side, which is provided with a coat of arms of Andreas Brand, abbot of the Ilbenstadt monastery, dated 1707. On the other sides of the courtyard there are farm buildings, some of which are used for residential purposes. A garden enclosed by a quarry stone wall also belongs to the listed property.

history

In 976, Emperor Otto II gave the Abbey of Mosbach with the associated property Dutdunueld to the Worms Monastery . In 1472 the farm was leased from the Ilbenstadt monastery under state settlement law . It was owned by the Ilbenstadt monastery until it was abolished in 1803 and is popularly known to this day as "Paffehof" (High German "Pfaffenhof"). In 1951, the Landgraves of Hesse ceded the farm to the Nassau Settlement Society as subsequent owners as part of the land reform . The farm was already managed biodynamically from 1946 to 1958 . In 1968 a joint venture of 5 families leased the farm and since then has been running it biodynamically again. The Dottenfelderhof agricultural community with around 150 members was founded around the operating community in 1981 . These support the operating community in the management and finance the farm's current assets. One of the goals of the agricultural community is to involve consumers in agricultural activities. Today the farm is owned by the Landbauschule Dottenfelderhof e. V. , which was founded in 1974. Your tasks are to ensure the biodynamic management of the farm, breeding and research work and training.

The agricultural school

Since the 1970s, the Landbauschule Dottenfelderhof eV has organized a monthly course in January and February every year to introduce you to biodynamic agriculture. A branch of the Institute for Biodynamic Research in Darmstadt has been integrated into the courtyard since 1977 . As a demonstration farm , the Dottenfelderhof also offers information on organic farming for consumers, schoolchildren, farmers, dealers and journalists. The Landbauschule Dottenfelder Hof eV in Bad Vilbel received the Hessian Animal Welfare Prize for the species-appropriate animal husbandry of the business belonging to the school as well as the educational work, through which visitors, children and school classes from the city gained an insight into the work of a farm.
