Eduard Rüffer
Eduard Rüffer (born December 27, 1835 in Lausitz , † November 18, 1878 in Prague ) was a German writer who wrote in German , French and Czech .
Life
Rüffer came from a Bohemian family who emigrated from the country to Lausitz after the Battle of the White Mountain . He studied in Berlin and Gotha with a focus on German language and history. As a young man he came to Prague and started publishing there with great success.
In 1860 he took part in Garibaldi's campaign against Naples . After the end of the Italian war, he wrote for the Italian magazine Il Popolo d'Italia . In 1861 he returned to Gotha and did historical research in the military field, writing dramas and poetry on the side. In 1863 he was back in Prague, published in Národní listy and politics . For the latter newspaper he reported as a war correspondent on the battle between Schleswig and Holstein from 1863 to 1864 .
In 1864 he returned to Prague forever, married and became a permanent employee of the newspaper Politik . In 1866 he reported on the Austro-Prussian war . In 1868 he founded the magazine Correspondance slave with other journalists . In 1869 the Foundation of the Military Library was added, and in 1870 his magazine Žižka appeared for the first time . After this was banned, Rüffer launched the weekly soldiers' newspaper Vlasť (Heimat) in 1871 .
