Double (work)

Double. A report is a work by the Swiss writer Daniel de Roulet from 1998 about Peter Gasser, a victim of the Swiss Fichenskandal .

Peter Gasser (* 1941) completed his law licensing in Zurich in 1965 . He became a Zurich District Attorney in 1969 (initially associate) and was later considered a “specialist in international legal assistance”. He was the “senior district attorney in Zurich for legal assistance in criminal matters and money laundering” and wrote articles on international crime. Gasser was also local editor of the Zurich AZ and is a long-time member of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland . He and Günter Stratenwerth described the Swiss money laundering legislation of the 1990s as de facto ineffective.

Gasser took over the defense of the initiators of the Democratic Manifesto against Ernst Cincera for a short time . In doing so, he risked his career and was subsequently spied on for years by the federal prosecutor's office as a potential “communist” . In 1980 he was mistaken for Daniel de Roulet by detective sergeant Alfred Heim of the Zurich canton police at a demonstration . As a result, he was laid off and unemployed, fought relatively unsuccessfully against his employer, the district attorney, for decades without knowing about the mix-up. Roulet published the “report” Double in 1998 on this confusion ; this was how Gasser learned of the mix-up that had ruined his career.
