Doug Widtfeldt

Douglas Richard Widtfeldt ( April 1, 1957 - March 30, 2015 in Sacramento ) was an American basketball player .

Life

The two-meter-tall, 2.04-meter-tall indoor player with German and Swedish ancestors was part of the university team at the University of Southern California from 1976 to 1980 . In his final game year 1979/80 he scored an average of 8 points and 6.1 rebounds per encounter. After leaving university, the Los Angeles Lakers showed interest in Widtfeldt, but the contract with the NBA team did not materialize. For the 1980/81 season he accepted an offer from the German Bundesliga club Hamburger TB .

After retiring as a professional basketball player, Widtfeldt returned to California and worked in Sacramento as a political advisor and for employee interest groups, and later in the insurance industry.
