Like the neighboring Teufelsberg, the Drachenberg was created from rubble after the Second World War . Unlike its higher neighbor, its slopes are bare in the upper area, so that the elevation offers panoramic views in all directions. The summit region is an extensive plateau.

Topographically, the Drachenberg and Teufelsberg are not connected, but are separated by an incision that shows the height of the surrounding area. Nevertheless, both surveys are often attributed to the Teufelsberg.

In 2006, the stairs from the parking lot south of the elevation to the top were renewed by ABM employees.
