Dragan Gjakonovski-Špato

Dragan Gjakonovski-Špato ( Macedonian Драган Ѓаконовски - Шпато , Serbo-Croatian : Dragan Đakonovski - Špato ; * March 11 (according to other information July 8 ) 1931 in Skopje ; † January 3, 1987 ibid) was a Yugoslavian-Indian composer and bandleader the areas of dance music and jazz .

Life

From 1950 Gjakonovski-Špato worked at Radio Skopje , where he founded and directed the radio dance orchestra. He composed numerous pieces of music and wrote more than 5000 arrangements .

family

Gjakonovski-Špato was married to the jazz singer Katica Gjakonovska. His son is the jazz bassist Martin Gjakonovski (* 1970) , who lives in Germany .

His father Vasil Gjakonovski-Špato and his older brother Hari Gjakonovski-Špato were also musicians.
