Drago Gabrić (born July 4, 1986 in Split , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian football player.

The midfielder is the son of Tonči Gabrić .

career

Still in the youth of the traditional Croatian club Hajduk Split , Gabrić decided to move to Omiš and became a regular player in the third Croatian league. He then received his first professional contract with his home club Hajduk, but initially went on loan to NK Solin in Croatia's second division for six months and then also on loan to league rivals NK Novalija . Since July 2006 he was in the squad of Hajduk's first team, on September 16, 2006 he was used for the first time in the Croatian first division, on March 17, 2007 he scored the first goal. For the 2009/10 season Gabrić moved to the Turkish first division club Trabzonspor for a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros .

Internationally, he played for the first time on July 19, 2007 in the 2007/08 UEFA Cup . On April 1, 2009 he was appointed to the squad of the Croatian national football team for the first time , on November 14, 2009 he played his first international match.

Gabrić was seriously injured in a traffic accident near Split on May 23, 2011. He was immediately rushed to a hospital intensive care unit.
