Tonči Gabrić (born November 11, 1961 in Split , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslav - Croatian football goalkeeper and Croatian goalkeeper coach .
Drago Gabrić's father is currently the goalkeeping coach at Hajduk Split and a scout in the Croatian national team .
Career as a player
Gabrić began his career in the 1979/80 season at RNK Split in the Yugoslav third division. In 1981/82 he had eight appearances for NK Solin in the second division, after his return to Split he succeeded there in 1984 as a regular goalkeeper of promotion to the second division of Yugoslavia. In 1985 he moved to Čelik Zenica in the first division and made 24 appearances there in 1985/86.
After his move to Hajduk Split in 1986 he could not prevail against Zoran Varvodić and played from 1988 to 1991 for league rivals NK Rijeka , where he rose to "number one".
During the Croatian War he played in Greece for PAOK Thessaloniki before moving to the newly created Croatian first league in 1993 , initially for one season at NK Pazinka Pazin and from 1994 to 1999 finally to Hajduk Split.
Since Croatia's independence , he was also a replacement for Dražen Ladić in the Croatian national team and was in the squad for the 1996 European Championship .
