Dragutin Gorjanović Kramberger

Dragutin Gorjanović-Kramberger (German Karl Gorjanović-Kramberger ) (born October 28, 1856 in Zagreb , Austria-Hungary ; † December 22, 1936 there , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) was a geologist and paleontologist .

Life

Gorjanović-Kramberger studied at the universities of Zurich, Munich and Tübingen and was awarded a doctorate in 1879 at the University of Tübingen with a thesis on fish fossils from the Carpathians. rer. nat. PhD and habilitation in 1880 at the University of Zagreb . From 1880 to 1886 he worked as an assistant at the Geological-Mineralogical Institute of the University of Zagreb. From 1886 to 1924 he was a full professor of geology and paleontology at the University of Zagreb.

In 1899, Gorjanović-Kramberger discovered the Neanderthal site at Husnjakovo brdo near Krapina , which is now a Neanderthal museum.
