Drebbel is an impact crater on the western edge of the front of the moon , southwest of the Mare Humorum , northeast of the great Schickard whale plain . The rim of the crater is irregularly shaped and only slightly eroded with traces of extensive landslides. The interior is largely flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Dutch physicist and inventor Cornelis Jacobszoon Drebbel .
