Wilhelm Schultheis

Wilhelm (Willi) Schultheis (born July 17, 1923 in Kohlscheid ; † January 6, 2010 in Herzogenrath ) was a German local politician ( SPD ) and mayor of the city of Herzogenrath.

Born in Kohlscheider, he comes from a family that was strongly influenced by its democratic ideas. This meant that the Schultheis family suffered massive personal disadvantages during the years of the dictatorship of the “Third Reich” . After the end of the war, Wilhelm Schultheis actively campaigned for the reconstruction of his home. On February 1, 1946, he became a member of the SPD. On July 3, 1946, he moved for his party for the first time in the council of what was then Kohlscheid. Here he became deputy mayor on November 9, 1956. After E. Bremen's death, he took over the office of mayor at the end of 1958, which he held until March 1961. In November 1969 he was again elected the first citizen of the Kohlscheid community. After the municipal reorganization in 1972 , he was elected mayor of the city of Herzogenrath. He gave up this office in 1991.

In addition to his position as mayor of the city of Herzogenrath, he was also a member of the district council of Aachen . He held this office from 1953 to 1956 and from 1969 to 1975.

Wilhelm Schultheis was married and had four children.
