The three tenors

The three tenors (international name: The Three Tenors ) were a vocal trio made up of the three opera singers Plácido Domingo (* 1941), Luciano Pavarotti (1935–2007) and José Carreras (* 1946), who have appeared in several concerts worldwide since 1990 and one Recorded series of vinyl records. The driving force behind the ensemble was the Italian manager and producer Mario Dradi.

First appearance

The three tenors first appeared together on July 7, 1990. The concert in the Roman Baths of Caracalla on the occasion of the football World Cup in 1990 had 6,000 visitors; about a billion people watched the appearance on television . Zubin Mehta conducted the orchestra of around 200 musicians . Pavarotti donated the fee for the charity performance to medical institutions, Carreras for leukemia research and Domingo for the reconstruction of the Mexican villages devastated by the 1985 earthquake . Due to their immense success, the trio also appeared at the following three soccer world championships : 1994 in Los Angeles , 1998 in Paris and 2002 in Yokohama .
