The Trinity Church ( Serbian : Црква Свете Тројице, Crkva Svete Trojice ) in the town of Rogatica is a Serbian Orthodox Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina .

It was built from 1883 to 1886 and is dedicated to the Holy Trinity . The church belongs to the metropolis of Dabrobosnia of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The church with its surroundings

The church is located in the southern center of the eastern Bosnian town of Rogatica. The Holy Trinity Church is located at the intersection of Radomira Neškovića and Vese Radkovića streets near the bank of the Rakitnica River , a tributary of the Prača , at an altitude of around 525  m. i. J. By the church there is a memorial to the Serbian soldiers who died in the battle of Vitanj hill near Glasnic in World War I.

history

The construction of the Holy Trinity Church in Rogatica began in 1883. The church was completed on the day of the Transfiguration of Christ in 1886. The caterer of the church was Mićo Kojić, a trader from Rogatica who donated the church together with his brothers. Emperor Franz Joseph was also the financier for the construction of the church . The church was built of stone in the Gothic style. The iconostasis was made by the painter Anastas Bocarić. The church was consecrated on the Feast of Venerable Mother Paraskeva in 1887.

The steeple of the church

During the Second World War , the church was badly destroyed by the German Wehrmacht . Everything valuable was stolen from the church, even the iconostasis. After the war the church was rebuilt. Today's iconostasis was made by the carpenter and carver Simo Stanišić from the village of Bukrići near Rogatica. Simo Stanišić had taught himself the craft of iconostasis building. The icons were painted by the renowned Belgrade painter Nikodim Brkić . In the 1970s and 1980s, the church was completely renovated inside and out. The second consecration of the Trinity Church was carried out by Metropolitan Dabrobosanski Vladislav, Metropolitan Jovan of Zagreb and Ljubljana , the Bishop of Raška - Prizren and the Serbian Patriarch from 1990 to 2009, the year of death, Pavle , in 1986. At the same time, the centenary of the Church in 1986 took place. In the autumn of 1997 the church was frescoed inside and a Byzantine holder for candles was built into the church. This small inauguration was carried out by Metropolitan Nikolaj from Sarajevo . In 1999 a heater was installed in the church.

The priests of the church and rulers of the parish of Rogatica are historically classified: Đoko Kosorić, Miladin Popadić, Atansije Kosorić, Relja Spajić, Savo Ristić, Dragoljub Janković, Milivoje Mandić from 1946 to 1971, Slobodan Lubarda, who held office from 1971 to 1973 , Milorad Novaković from 1973 to 1995 and Gvozden Arambašić since 1995.
