Dreimädelbrunnen
The Dreimädelbrunnen is located on the corner of Kaiserswerther Strasse and Friedrich-Lau-Strasse in the Golzheim district of Düsseldorf .
description
The fountain was created in 1914/1915 by Leon Lauffs and Hermann vom Endt , acquired by the Beautification Association for 21,000 marks and given to the city of Düsseldorf. The bronze sculpture, which stands on a neoclassical natural stone plinth, shows three young women based on the classic motif of the three graces . While one of the women is standing, the other two kneel and hold a conch shell , the symbol of Venus . The sculpture originally stood on the corner of Haroldstrasse and Mannesmannufer ( Villa Horion , Landeshaus Düsseldorf ). In 1925 the bronze was damaged, in 1933 the entire fountain system was shut down. In 1951 the group of figures came to the municipal truck yard; since 1964 it has been on the corner of Kaiserswerther Strasse and Friedrich-Lau-Strasse in the green area in front of the Golzheim clinic. The fountain is a listed building .
