Leon Lauffs

Leonhard Lauffs , also Léon Lauffs (born October 24, 1883 in Dürler near Sankt Vith , Rhine Province ; † July 10, 1956 in Düsseldorf ), was a German sculptor , graphic artist and painter .

Life

Lauffs attended the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts from 1900 to 1901 , then the Düsseldorf Art Academy until 1911 . He went on study trips to Italy and Belgium and settled in Düsseldorf, where he was a member of the artists' association Malkasten . Lauffs mainly created portrait busts, figurines, fountains and grave monuments, such as the Dreimädelbrunnen in 1914/1915 . He also excelled as a still life painter . In 1911 he was represented at the Great Art Exhibition in Düsseldorf with a girl figure , in 1913 at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition with a female bronze head , and in 1938 at the Great German Art Exhibition with a bronze Eva .
