Dürler is a village in the Belgian Eifel with 190 inhabitants, which belongs to the municipality of Burg-Reuland in the German-speaking community .

geography

Dürler is located around 13 kilometers south of the city of Sankt Vith and only around two kilometers north of the Luxembourg state border. The place is in the valley of the Mühlbach, a tributary of the Ulf .

Worth seeing

The St. Matthias Church was rebuilt in 1901, the rectory dates from 1779. In the center of the village is the at least 250 year old Marx House, which was built in the Trier style in the 18th century during the time of Austrian rule.

House Marxgasse 3

The house at Marxgasse 3, a white plastered quarry stone house with a slate saddle roof from the 18th century, is a typical example of a historic Eifel house under monument protection.

history

Dürler is mentioned for the first time as "Durlenges" in a document from the Stablo monastery around 1151. The first syllable of the word (Dür-) stands for wood or scrub; the second syllable (-ler or -lar) stands for residence or settlement.
