Welchenhausen Museum

The "Museum in der wArtehalle" is located just across the Our in Welchenhausen. The small art museum was opened in August 2002 and shows works by artists from Germany and the BeNeLux countries in three to five exhibitions each year. As the name suggests, the museum is actually located in a former bus shelter and - as it should be for a bus shelter - is still accessible free of charge, around the clock, every day of the year. The museum goes back to an initiative of the residents of Welchenhausen.

Oberhausen Castle

Oberhausen Castle is a glamorous country house on the northern outskirts that dates from the 18th century. The cultural monument has two full floors and its walls have been given pink plaster. The main building was very likely built in two different phases. This is suggested by an offset in the architecture of the front facade of the building. The two windows on the far right are positioned significantly higher than all the others. This presumably attached part was used as a separate living area. The back of the building is completely different from the front facade. Oberhausen Castle was listed as a historical monument in 1988.
