Lascheid is a village in the Belgian Eifel with 176 inhabitants, which belongs to the municipality of Burg-Reuland in the German-speaking Community .
geography
Lascheid is around twelve kilometers south of the city of Sankt Vith and only around two kilometers north of the Luxembourg and west of the German border.
history
The place name Lascheid means something like state divide / border . Lascheid was first mentioned in 1501 as Landscheydt . In that year there was already a small chapel in Lascheid, which was dedicated to St. Michael. It was replaced by the current building in 1759, although the west tower was not added until 1902. Today's chapel with its three-sided chancel is made of quarry stone . The altar dates from the 18th century. A sacristy was added in 1989 on the initiative of the people of Lascheid.
