history
The village of Thommen or Tumbas was mentioned in two acts from 816 and 846 of the Prüm Abbey. The name suggests a villa or palace (lat. Pallatium ad tumbas ) of Frankish kings at the place. Ad tumbas points to the nearby hill grave at Hochtumsknopf between Thommen and the neighboring Maldingen . Other written sources report a chapel in 814.
St. Remaklus Church
The St. Remaklus Church, built on a hill, was built in the 16th century in the Gothic style. Apparently there was a place of worship at this point. In 1890 the nave of the church was renewed, and further renovations took place in the 20th century. The church has been a listed building since 1983.
