history
Weweler was first mentioned in 1313 as Wewilre . Local researchers, however, based on relevant finds, assume that the area of the village was already settled in Roman times. In the Middle Ages, significantly more people lived in Weweler than today. The war and plague years of the 17th century caused a turning point. Those who did not die during this time emigrated, so that in 1672 Weweler only had two inhabited houses with a total of 14 residents, according to the records of Pastor Mathäus Breitfeld.
