Trident made of wood
The Neolithic tridents wooden ( English neolithic wooden tridents ) were, during the archaeological 2,009 route survey of the northern route at Carlisle in Cumbria in England discovered.
The two tridents were found in a former bed of the River Eden , west of Stainton and dated 3900 to 3400 BC. Dated. The watercourse lay next to a settlement where thousands of flint fragments were found. Both tridents are over two meters long and made with stone tools from the oak plank of a 300 year old tree.
Tridents are so rare that they are of national importance. They are identical to finds 200 years older, two in Ehenside Tarn in Cumbria and two from a swamp in County Armagh , Northern Ireland . The nearly identical designs show that they were made for a recognized purpose. However, this is open.
