Drengman Aaker

Drengman Olsen Aaker (born September 24, 1839 in Hjartdahl , Norway , † March 30, 1894 in Ridgeway , Iowa ) was an American entrepreneur and member of the House of Representatives from Iowa .

Career

Aaker spent part of his childhood in Norway until his parents emigrated to the United States in 1848. They initially settled in Waukesha County , Wisconsin , but moved to Winneshiek County , Iowa , in 1854 . During the Civil War , Aaker served in the 12th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment . After the war he worked in the timber industry and later founded the company Galby and Aaker , which specialized in trading in grain.

Aaker married in 1869 and had a daughter and three sons with his wife.

From 1882 to 1884 Aaker served as a Democrat in the House of Representatives from Iowa and from 1884 to 1886 as a Republican .
