The Drescher Station is a mobile ice camp in the Antarctic that was operated by the Alfred Wegener Institute . It is named after the biologist Eberhard Drescher (1944–1983) and is only erected on the Riiser-Larsen Ice Shelf on Drescher Inlet on the east coast of the Weddell Sea when required .

The camp, made up of residential containers and fiberglass igloos, is used by biologists to research the diving behavior and nutrition of the Weddell seals and emperor penguins that live there . Six research campaigns have been carried out in Drescher Inlet since 1986, the last being in the southern summer of 2003/04. In recent years, biological research in the field of inlets has developed into a worthwhile focus of work, because the projects of various scientific disciplines can be synchronized by combining field stations and ship operations. This is a globally unique approach based on close collaboration between scientists from various disciplines.
