The Dallmann Laboratory is a summer station for biology and geosciences in the Antarctic . It is located on King George Island , South Shetland Islands , at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . The Argentinean Carlini station is in the immediate vicinity , and its logistics are also used.

The laboratory, which opened on January 20, 1994, is named after the polar seafarer Eduard Dallmann and is operated by the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in cooperation with the Netherlands and the Argentine Instituto Antártico Argentino . It has twelve workplaces with laboratories, workshop, storage, aquariums and a base for research divers. The composition and stability of algae and animal communities are examined. Findings about the food relationships and the physiology of the species enable the scientists to make statements about the development of polar communities in the face of global environmental changes.
