Dresden vocalists

The Dresden Vocalists are a male vocal ensemble in Dresden , made up of graduates from the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden , who sang together in their childhood as crucians . Her wide-ranging repertoire spanned the early polyphony, through the Renaissance, to contemporary composers.

history

The ensemble was founded in 1975. Franns-Wilfrid von Promnitz , who was engaged at the Saxon State Opera in Dresden , directed the ensemble. The countertenor came from the German-Sorbian Volkstheater Bautzen and studied set designer Gerd Reichard; Reinhard Decker from the Chemnitz Opera House provided the bass support . Changing line-ups for the middle voices completed the ensemble. B. Andreas Scheibner, Olaf Bär, Karl-Heinz Fleischer, Bodo Lange, Dietmar Spiegelhauer, Gottfried Trepte and others. The first appearance of the Dresden vocalists took place on October 4th, 1975 on the open-air stage "Junge Garde" in the Dresden Great Garden . After winning the silver medal at the fourth GDR entertainment competition in 1978, the Dresden vocalists worked freelance. Johannes Weigel's good organizational talent enabled the Dresden vocalists to enjoy successful concerts and concert tours at home and abroad.

Engagements have taken them to the Friedrichstadtpalast in East Berlin , to Paris , Prague , Budapest , The Hague , Rome , Krakow , Saint Petersburg and Sibiu in Transylvania , as well as to various concert halls, churches, palaces and cultural centers - in some cases they have performed up to 200 concerts in Year. As part of the concert series Music from Dresden , the ensemble performed in Birkenfeld near Pforzheim in 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1997 .

In 1976 they played various titles from this legendary ensemble together with Erwin Bootz , the pianist of the Comedian Harmonists , in the Dresdner Herkuleskeule . The Capella Sagittariana often invited them to joint performances of early music. Festivals such as the European Festival Weeks in Passau , the Greifswalder Bachwoche , the Park Festival Potsdam or the Landshuter Hofmusiktage experienced their participation. In 1981 the Dresden vocalists appeared in the musical production Die Vögel by Peter Hacks / Thomas Hertel at the Dresden Schauspielhaus . In 1984 they worked in the production of Franz Kafka / Paul Heinz Dittrich's The Metamorphosis at the German State Opera Berlin . They also appeared in many radio and television programs in the GDR, for example in Ein Kessel Buntes , Gala 78 , Theo Adam invites and Da is music in it .

The ensemble performed in Dresden- Pillnitz on May 5, 1990 at a benefit concert to save the Pillnitz vineyard church . On June 13th, 2015 the Dresden vocalists sang again with the former Thomaner Hanns-Jürgen Ander-Donath as baritone in the now rescued Weinbergkirche and with this comeback triggered real applause.
