history
On November 8, 2007, the software repositories Livna, Freshrpms and Dribble decided to merge to pool resources and to address dependency and compatibility problems. The shared RPM Fusion repository was not ready until the end of 2008, before the release of Fedora 10.
"Livna" is an ananym from "Anvil". Again, this is a pseudonym of Damien Nadé . The French programmer is the founder of the rpm.livna.org project. The Livna repository still contains a package today. This package is called libdvdcss and is required to play copy-protected DVDs . RPM Fusion did not include this library for legal reasons.
Freshrpms was founded in 2000 by Matthias Saou , originally for his own use.
Dribble contained applications that neither Fedora nor Livna offered because they did not meet their principles or needs. These were mainly multimedia applications, games and emulators .
