The ananym ( gr. Ana according to + onyma name) is a special form of the pseudonym and at the same time the anagram . In an ananym, the real name is written backwards, whereby the letters are not or only partially changed. An example is the last name of the author Kurt Wilhelm Marek, who wrote under the name CW Ceram .

The claim that Erich Maria Remarque was actually called Kramer is incorrect. In fact, he was born as Erich Paul Remark . The rumor that Remarque was denying his real name Kramer was spread by the Nazis in order to undermine his credibility.

Musicians and music groups

  • The German musician Frank Möller chose Knarf Rellöm , the ananym of his name, as his artist name.
  • The rapper Caput named himself after the rap musician Tupac Shakur .
