Hoya Printing Museum
The Hoya Printing Museum is a privately run technology museum dedicated to the history of printing technology . It is located in the town of Hoya in the Lower Saxony district of Nienburg / Weser .
Various historical printing presses and accessories for book printing are presented in the museum on around 150 m² . They give an impression of the 550-year history of book printing with the help of lead typesetting . Showpieces are a 1.5 t heavy Linotype typesetting machine and a toggle press of 1866, which comes from Berlin and is the oldest printing press. In addition, a six kg printing cylinder with which the last edition of the Weserkurier from June 9, 1984 was printed with lead type.
From 1998 to the end of 2019, the museum was located in a former rectory in the immediate vicinity of the Hoya Museum of Local History . The museum has been moving to new premises in Hoya since 2020 and is not yet accessible to the general public.
