The Druidensteig is a hiking trail with a rating of 83 km from Freusburg to Marienstatt Abbey . It consists of six stages and connects the southern Siegerland with the northern Westerwald . It lies between the rivers Sieg and Nister . The Druidensteig has been part of the Westerwald-Lahn-Taunus Geopark since 2015 .
Waymarks
The waymark contains a 5 lying on a black background (stylization of a tower (Ottoturm) and a mountain with a cross (Druidenstein)). Together with part of the 5 , 5 circular ring sectors (symbolize the surrounding communities of the Druid Land ) complete the border. Further references to the magic number 5 of the Druidensteig: 5 municipalities, 5 watercourses, 5 mountain heights around 500 m, 5 important cultural monuments and 5 nature reserves.
Stages
The first generation of the Duidenstein Trail consisted of four stages:
- Stage 1: Freusburg - Herdorf (17.7 km)
- Stage 2: Herdorf - Friedewald (14.8 km)
- Stage 3: Friedewald - Alsdorf (20.9 km)
- Stage 4: Alsdorf - Marienstatt Abbey (22.0 km)
The second generation consists of six stages with partly different routes and different stages and ends in Hachenburg:
- Stage 1: From Freusburg to Herdorf (16.8 km).
- Stage 2: From Herdorf to Daaden (13.1 km).
- Stage 3: From Daaden to Elkenrother Weiher (13.2 km).
- Stage 4: From Elkenrother Weiher to Betzdorf (14.4 km).
- Stage 5: From Betzdorf to Steinebach (9.1 km).
- Stage 6: From Steinebach to Hachenburg (16.7 km).
