The Dry Tarn is a small lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The Dry Tarn is on the east flank of the Great Gable near the ascent from Sty Head Pass . The lake has no discernible inflow or outflow.
The Dry Tarn is shown on the Ordnance Survey maps as a lake and its name part Tarn identifies it as such, just like the first part of its name Dry indicates that it does not or not always have water. The Dry Tarn can therefore also be described as a basin that is temporarily filled with water or as a puddle .
