Dušan Kanazir

Dušan Kanazir ( Serbian - Cyrillic Душан Каназир ; born June 28, 1921 in Mošorin at Titel , Vojvodina , Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ; † September 19, 2009 in Belgrade ) was a Yugoslav biochemist and Serbian politician.

Dušan Kanazir studied medicine in Paris and Belgrade and received his doctorate from the Université Libre de Bruxelles . From 1956 he was head of the Laboratory for Molecular Biology and Endocrinology at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences "Vinča" . Since 1968 he has taught as a full professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Belgrade .

From 1968 he was a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts , from 1981 to 1994 its president. He was also a member of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts , the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Academy of Sciences and Arts , the Kosovar Academy of Sciences and Arts , the Academy of Athens and the National Academy of Sciences of India . He has received numerous awards.

From 1996 to 1998 he was Serbian Minister of Science and Technology in the government of Mirko Marjanović . He was a member of the Socialist Party of Serbia .
