The Duarte Cove (English; Spanish Ensenada Duarte ; in Argentina Ensenada Escondida ) is a side bay of Hughes Bay on the Danco coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located north of the Reljowo Peninsula . In front of it is the Apéndice Island .
Scientists of the 3rd Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1948-1949) named her after José Duarte V., captain of the Lautaro ship on this and the subsequent research voyage (1949-1950). The Argentine name is descriptive ( Spanish escondida , 'hidden' ).
