The Dubo River , also known as the D'bor River, Dubor, Dru River , is a river in the Republic of Liberia in West Africa .

course

The river has a length of about 100 km, it has its source in the Tiehnpo Range in the southwestern part of River Gee County and flows through the Grand Kru County in countless meanders. The river flows into the Atlantic about 10 kilometers northwest of the coastal town of Sasstown .

Settlement

The landscape of the Dubo River is shaped by the tropical rainforest and is only sparsely populated. The area was one of the regions of Liberia that had long been maintained by the indigenous population against the aspirations of the American-Liberian immigrants. The region was the scene of bitter fighting as recently as the 1920s. The conflicts over dominance in the lucrative coastal trade, which were also carried out within the indigenous population groups, became known as Kru Wars (German: Kru Wars). It was not until the early 1930s that the last uprisings were cracked down with great brutality by government troops.

raw materials

As a result of a deposit exploration , gold deposits were found in the upper reaches of the Dubo River . The region has always been sparsely populated and there is practically no road network.
