Duboisia leichhardtii is a plant type from the genus Duboisia in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae). A common English name is Corkwood .

description

Duboisia leichhardtii is a tall shrub or small tree that reaches heights of up to 12 m. The bark is thick and corky towards the base. The leaves are narrowly ovate-elliptical, rarely narrowly ovoid or narrowly elliptical. They are almost sessile, the flower stalks are a maximum of 8 mm long. The leaves reach 5 to 13 cm in length and 7 to 20 mm in width, both leaf sides are colored the same.

The inflorescences are broadly pyramidal and are accompanied by 0.5 to 2.5 mm long bracts . The flowers are on 10 to 16 mm long pedicels , the calyx is 1.5 to 3 mm long, its calyx tips are about half as long as the calyx tube. The crown reaches lengths of 13 to 19 mm, the corolla tube measures 4 to 4.5 mm in diameter at the tip. The corolla lobes are 6.5 to 11.5 mm long. Four stamens 2.5 to 4 mm long are formed. The style is 2.5 to 4 mm long and protrudes over the upper stamens by 0.5 to 1 mm.

The fruits are spherical, purple-black berries with a diameter of 4 to 5 mm. They stand on a fruit stalk that extends up to 20 mm. The seeds become 2.5 to 3 mm long.

Distribution and locations

The species is distributed in the southeastern and central southern part of the Australian state of Queensland . It grows in fertile clay soils, often in the softwood bush and in disturbed locations.
