The Duchaylard Island ( French Île Duchaylard ) is a 4.5 km long, 2.5 km wide and up to 556 m high island off the Graham coast of Grahamland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 1.5 km southeast of the Vieugué Island and 16 km west of Cape García in the Grandidier Canal .
They were discovered by participants in the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903-1905) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . Charcot named it after the French diplomat Jean Marie Guy Georges du Chaylard (1844-1923), General Representative of France in Montevideo , who helped Charcot's research trip on site.
