Duck Dynasty ( English , translated: "Duck Dynasty") is an American reality TV show on the channel A&E . The focus is on the experiences of the Robertson family and their coexistence. With decoy whistles for duck hunting, the head of the family Phil has built a multi-million dollar corporate empire called the Duck Commander in West Monroe, Louisiana . This company is now run by his son Willie. The special trademark of the Robertson men are their long beards.

The stories about the self-made millionaire and his family broke several records in the United States. With 11.8 million viewers, the season four premiere became the most-watched non-fictional program in American cable television history. With the eleventh season, the show ended in spring 2017.

On January 20, 2014, the German-language premiere was on the Biography Channel . The series has been shown on the ProSieben MAXX channel since March 8, 2014 . The sixth season should be seen from June 11, 2014 on A&E. The seventh season should be seen from November 19, 2014.

review

According to a review by the Berliner Zeitung , the series conveys a “reactionary idea of society”. Women and men have their fixed roles, even if they are "dealt with more playfully than before". Afro-Americans or Latinos are just as absent from the series as gays or lesbians . Here the white southern world is "still in order".

Temporary suspension

After remarks by Phil Robertson in December 2013, which the station interpreted as being anti-gay and anti-black and sparked controversy in the media, he was temporarily suspended from the program. The rest of the family then announced that they would not continue the show without Phil. A little later, the broadcaster withdrew the suspension.
