Dufekfjellet is a 3150 m high and large mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises 3 km southwest of Mefjell in the Sør Rondane mountains .
Norwegian cartographers mapped the mountain in 1957 using aerial photographs taken during the US Operation Highjump (1946–1947). It is named after the American Rear Admiral George J. Dufek (1903-1977), among other things commander of the support units of the United States Navy in Antarctica from 1954 to 1959 and head of the first Operation Deep Freeze (1955-1956), which also included the Eastern Group who directed Operation Highjump.
