Fragrance (Samerberg)
Fragrance is a district of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Samerberg in the district of Rosenheim and consists of the Einödhof Duftbräu .
The establishment of the farm goes back to woodworkers who opened up the wooded ridges around the Samerberg for logging from the Middle Ages . The numerous watercourses in the area were used to drift down into the valley. Near a waterfall they built at a height of 800 m above sea level. NN a small shelter made of tuff stone , from which the name, which is still used today, is derived. Around 1824 a family of three lived in the solitary yard.
From 1870 beer was brewed in the property. The Duftbräu was the highest brewery in the German Empire. The house was destroyed by fire in 1908. The married couple Matthäus and Anna Wallner acquired the fire site and built the family-run inn there. In 1930 they donated a small chapel next to the inn, which is now a listed building.
