history

The club was founded in 1989 as VTJ Dukla Senica and immediately started playing in the regional championship. At the end of the first season, Dukla won the regional championship and thus qualified for participation in the third-class 2nd SNHL. In the following two years the club played in the western season of this division. The team took third place in the season in 1991 and first place in 1992 and thus qualified for participation in the 1st SNHL. In the 1992/93 season, the VTJ Dukla took tenth place in this division and was then included in the newly created 1st league . Since then, the club has been taking part in this second division in Slovakia under different names due to sponsorship changes. The club achieved its best placement in the 2001/02 season when it was runner-up in the 1st division.

After the 2015/16 season, in which Dukla Senica reached seventh place, the club sold its 1st league license to HK Skalica . Dukla Senica then - after 24 years in the 1st division - started playing in the 2nd division and changed his name to HK 91 Senica .
