Marián Bažány (born May 9, 1975 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak - German ice hockey player who played from 2005 to 2013 at the Düsseldorfer EG in the DEL on the position of defender . Bazany learned to play ice hockey in his home country, but started working in Germany in 2000 and was granted German citizenship in 2005 . Since the end of his career he has worked as a trainer.
Career
Bazany played for years in the Slovak extra league and the second division of his country. His stations were from 1994 to 1995 HC Slovan Bratislava , from 1995 to 1996 Dukla Senica , from 1996 to 1998 SHK Danubia Bratislava , 1998 to 1999 HK Trnava and again Slovan Bratislava in 1999, before moving to Germany during the 1999/00 season changed. From the regional league , the defender made it into the DEL and the national team in the following years . In Bavaria he first played for two years from 2000 to 2002 for TSV Peißenberg in the regional league, before he joined EV Regensburg in the 2nd Bundesliga from 2002 to 2005 . Here he scored 13 goals and 76 assists in 154 league games with 241 penalty minutes. He also took part with his team in the playoff games in 2004 and scored two assists in five games.
There he was discovered by DEL manager Lance Nethery and in 2005 - now a German citizen - signed by the DEG Metro Stars . Here he quickly fought for a regular position in defense and was even appointed to the German national ice hockey team by national coach Greg Poss in November due to his solid performance . He took part in the TUI Nations Cup , but was sorted out again under the new national coach Uwe Krupp , so that he could not take part in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
In 2013 he ended his sporting career. From the 2014/15 season he was employed by the Eisbären Berlin and looked after the DEL team as an assistant and fitness trainer. In the 2017/18 season he was assistant trainer for the Krefeld Penguins . In May 2018 he became assistant coach at SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in the Swiss National League.
